Betsy
For Betsy, we worked closely with restaurateur and owner Tyler Wells to help bring his vision for a rustic, woodfired neighborhood restaurant to life. From the beginning, the project was approached as a true collaboration, with Tyler deeply involved throughout both the design and build process. His hands-on approach, creativity, and instinct for atmosphere helped shape a space that feels warm, grounded, and deeply connected to the community around it.
Inspired by open-hearth cooking and rustic sensibility, the restaurant was designed to feel timeless and lived-in; balancing raw materials, warmth, and simplicity with an inviting energy. Our team worked alongside Tyler to execute the architectural detailing, spatial flow, and overall build out, while fabricating all custom millwork entirely in-house. The result is a highly personal space that reflects both the spirit of the food and the people behind it.
Since opening, Betsy has quickly become a staple of Altadena culture and community. In 2025, the restaurant was recognized by Esquire as one of βThe Best New Restaurants in America,β praised for its resilience, warmth, and sense of place in the wake of the Eaton Canyon fires.
